Description

A master in the art of playing with volumes, Charlotte Besson-Oberlin delivered this Masque wall lamp in 2025, made from torchon-grain Fabriano artistico paper with a semi-industrial varnish patina that contrasts with its presence and lightness.
Cutting and twisting the paper creates an antropomorphic image, like a pareidolia. This luminous mask changes its appearance even more when lit, revealing its geometry and superimpositions.
The tactile tenderness of paper and the cool softness of metal combine to make this sconce a sensitive sculpture of great singularity. The paper mask is cut and folded by hand, making each piece unique. It’s attached to a hand-worked brass bar with a patina, like the naively sculpted mouths on primitive masks.

ABOUT THE DESIGNER
Charlotte Besson-Oberlin’s experience and taste for sober, pure design were honed at the Christian Liaigre design office, where she spent 11 years working all over the world, first as an interior designer, then as head of furniture design. From these years, she retains the rigor of execution, the taste for noble materials, the concern for perfect finishes and the constant search for the best design for each customer. Charlotte Besson-Oberlin created dix9mai to add her own personality to this invaluable background, offering a design with clean lines and unexpected touches that never freeze the scenery.
