Nathalie Fontenoy

Nathalie Fontenoy is a French painter and scenographer living and working in Paris. From an artist family, her grandmother was a close friend of Brancusi, she developed very young her own universe. She was graduated in Fine Arts at the University of Sorbonne, and taught architecture and colors later on in her life.

Her paintings combine figuration and abstraction with shades and colors, questioning the relation between the visible and the unseen. The work of her grandmother, Lizica Codréano, whose work became known in the 20’s and 30’s remains present in the creation of her grand daughter as a visual reinterpretation.

The artist has broadened her repertoire of work over the years through numerous artistic projects, for example as a graphic designer for Habitat as well as a scenographer for dance companies.

She used to work on large size of medium, as during an exhibition at the Montmajour abbey in 2014. She also works on smaller format as her plexiglass wall for Anne Jacquemin Sablon gallery in 2017.
